Description:
|
|
|
The Cal Poly Organic Farm (CPOF) provides students and the community a place to
experience and explore organic and sustainable farming and gardening techniques.
Furthermore, it serves as a classroom and laboratory to several Cal Poly courses
and research programs. Faculty, staff and students jointly manage and steward
the farm. The farm is also supported by grants, community members, the
Horticulture and Crop Science Department and the College of Agriculture, Food
and Environmental Sciences.
CPOF is 11 acres that are certified organic by
California Certified Organic Farms. The acreage is composed of one central
location and several production fields on campus. Find Us.
A Community
Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is the main sales avenue for CPOF produce.
The CSA movement, as well as CPOF’s CSA, has grown phenomenally over the last 5
years. CSAs promote local agriculture and encourage a direct farmer-to-consumer
relationship.
