Since 1978, Hartford Food System, Inc. is dedicated to long-term, sustainable
responses to food problems in Hartford. We are one of the nation's oldest and
best-established organizations working to promote the concept of community food
security. The Hartford Food System was an early advocate of what has now become
a national movement to link the well being of urban communities with sustainable
agriculture and a more equitable food economy. As our name suggests, Hartford
Food System pursues system-based strategies that can deal with complex problems
like food security comprehensively, rather than treat isolated aspects of the
problem through services or programs limited to single issues.
