We have partner animal welfare organizations in 10 poor ountries: Uganda, Ghana,
Namibia, Tanzania, Malawi, Sudan, Honduras, Jamaica, Armenia, and Bosnia. All of
our partners work to improve the lives of domestic animals (mainly dogs and
cats) in their countries. Local people operate the organizations; most have
been in existence for several years. AKI is familiar with our partners'
financial and operating procedures. We raise visibility of their great work, we
link wealthier country donors with our partners, and we send 100% of donated
funds to our partners--we have no overhead. Donors can earmark and track use of
funds. AKI is for those of us who believe animal welfare has no boundaries and
for those who are concerned about animal welfare in poor countries but always
felt helpless to have an impact--through AKI's partners, we are changing
attitudes and behaviors to domestic animals--the change is being driven from
ground-up and by local people.
