In Fiscal Year 2008, Austin killed over 10,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens
at the Town Lake Animal Center, Austin's municipal animal control facility. Many
of them were healthy, well-behaved animals who could have made someone a
wonderful pet. They were killed because there wasn't enough room to keep them
until homes could be found for them. Austin Pets Alive! is a volunteer
organization whose sole purpose is to bring No-Kill to Austin. Austin- WE CAN
DO BETTER!
