DomoVitae Natural Milk Paint is an environmentally safe, odorless, non-toxic
paint. Created from organic plastic-like polymers contained in milk, the paint
cures over time to create a tough but beautiful natural protective coating. The
same polymers are used in construction adhesives. Packaged as a powder in
air-tight containers, the milk paint powder can be stored indefinitely. Simply
mix with tap water to have fresh safe-to-use paint whenever you need it. The
finish of milk paint is velvety flat, somewhat translucent, and if desired can
be buffed to a soft lustrous sheen.
Milk paints were used in homes, barns
and on furniture in early American up through the mid 1900’s when chemical and
VOC-based paints were introduced. Milk paints may be applied to almost any rigid
surface that is clean, dry and non-oily. Satisfactory materials include
panel-applied canvas, heavier watercolor papers, plaster, drywall, metal, wood,
and Masonite.
