Tule Elk Park is one of the country’s most distinctive urban learning
centers. Built over 13 years, the concrete, asphalt, and fences were removed and
one of San Francisco's first green schoolyards was built for hundreds of
low-income children (3-9 years old). The Park attracts hundreds of visitors a
year both for its design and model for transforming schoolyards into dynamic
learning and recreational spaces. Today, Tule Elk Park provides 200
pre-kindergarten and school-age children with three core programs: environmental
education, artist-in-residence, and music and movement
