Detroit, MI – As the number of nonprofit organizations grows and the resource
base on which they depend decreases, the competition for dollars, volunteers and
visibility becomes fierce! There is a solution. SMART, or Strategic Mergers
Alliance Resource Training, is a new program introduced to offer Michigan
nonprofit organizations tools to develop simple collaborations among themselves,
defined partner relationships or complex mergers as a means to increase
productive programs and services. SMART’S message? Transform the operation – not
the cause.

SMART is a collaborative effort of Community Legal Resources, Detroit Executive
Service Corps, Michigan Nonprofit Association, Nonprofit Finance Fund, and
