AERC is based at the former University of Wisconsin Agricultural Research
Station in Ashland, Wisconsin. Our goal is to explore and develop models for
building strong rural communities through sustainable agriculture, integrated
local food systems, and local renewable energy resources. AERC facilitates
regionally relevant research projects and community education and demonstration
projects. AERC seeks to build collaborative relationships throughout the
western Lake Superior region to create a foodshed network of production and
distribution resources, as well as an information network promoting progressive
farming methods and business models that will enhance profit opportunity for
regional farmers while reducing impact to the environment.
