The Selkirk Conservation Alliance is dedicated to the cause of protecting the
wild grandeur of the Selkirk Mountains.
This is the only remaining ecosystem
in the conterminous United States that still has all the species extant when
Lewis and Clark journeyed through the Northwest.
The Selkirks are now one of
the last redoubts for imperiled creatures such as grizzly bears, woodland (or
mountain) caribou, Canada lynx, wolverine, fisher, and bull trout. These rugged
mountains are also home to mountain goats, bighorn sheep, wolves, moose, elk,
mountain lions, cutthroat trout, and a host of rare coastal and boreal disjunct
plants.
