Sprouts is a student volunteer-driven club at UBC dedicated to fostering food
security and community on campus and beyond.
Our primary initiative is a
non-profit cafe and grocery store that operates out of the UBC Student Union
Building. We sell local and organic produce, minimally-packaged groceries and
bulk foods, fair-trade tea and coffee, as well as home-made seasonal organic
soups, baked goods and bread all prepared in-house by our volunteers.
We also
sponsor a number of outreach projects to serve and enhance the UBC communit,
including a pay-what-you-can lunch called “Community Eats”, a wholesale buying
club, a bicycle-powered grocery delivery service called “The Sprouts Box”, and a
series of free, educational workshops that promote various cooking and
food-related skills.
