COMMENT from Trisha York   on Oct 27, 2010    My son is now 19 months old and running around like crazy! He was born on St. Patrick's Day 2009 and if it weren't for Sheila I don't know if I could have kept it un-medicated. She got me throught the worst of my contractions and at one point even held me up, insuring I didn't fall to the ground, while I endured an intense contraction. Before I had my son I had only met Sheila once. I decided to get a DOULA at the last minute and Sheila was gracious enough to accept me with only a couple weeks until my due date. We were due to meet only a couple days after our first meeting but my son had other ideas.....he wanted to come into this world a little bit sooner than anticipated! Sheila was there within a short amount of time and jumped right in with aid to me. Never having met my family, she was very engaged, willing to help, encouraging, caring and made my family and me feel inspired. She stayed until after his birth and aided me with the first breast feeding moments. Sheila kept a great record of my labor and delivery and even the precious moments afterwards and I was surprised when she came to visit me in my home and with a blanket she made for Jaxon. Since my experience with Sheila and since I had my son I have recommended a DOULA to ALL of my friends and would most definately ask her to share my next childs birth as well. She's amazing!
