I have sensitivities to chemicals and it is very difficult for me to be able to find a place to stay when I travel. I was lucky enough to find Haskell´s House in Fort Lauderdale, since they use all natural and non fragrance products. The house came as advertised and I was very comfortable there. The fact that it is a vegetarian house was an added bônus. It also was very helpful for me that there was no carpeting. The house is surrounded by alot of plants which adds to the natural feel of the environment. The owners Cara and Gary are extremely nice people and very helpful, if you have any issues or questions. The location is very convenient as well, and everything I needed was a short walk or short bus or bike ride away. If someone is looking for a natural environment, and lives a vegetarian lifestyle, and cares for the environment I would highly suggest this place.

Thank you, Michael. It was a pleasure having you stay and I'm glad we were able to offer you a safe place.

This place is exactly as advertised. A wonderful little cottage that is very eco-friendly. I am a vegan and got pretty excited when I saw the rental agreement said no flesh was allowed in the house. The owners were extremely accommodating and made me feel at home for the several weeks that I stayed at Haskell's House. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here, as long as you are aware of what the house is about. Realize that most of the house is original, and 50, 60 or 70 or more years old. The main sink wasn't draining and the hot water faucet in the bathroom didn't always work. No microwave or TV or wifi. Everything you need for a quiet vacation or place to rest at night after exploring South Florida. If I come back to South Florida I would definitely stay there again.

The kitchen sink does drain, but until we have a chance to take it out this summer, to get it powder-coated, it's better not to fill it up The dishpan works well and even when the sink finish is repaired, we'll still ask people to use the dishpan to conserve and re-use water. I apologize, for the apparent inconvenience you experienced through not having hot water for your sink. It was such warm weather most of the time that I didn't feel it worth invading your privacy to have the plumber change the faucets. Had you told us it bothered you, I'd have made sure it was fixed while you were there.

My stay at Haskell's House was fantastic. I was there for approximately three weeks in March. Cara and Gary were great hosts and resources for information about the area; it was helpful and comforting to know they were right next door. The house itself provided a comfy & cute "home away from home." I loved having a full kitchen & washer/dryer to use, the DSL internet worked just fine, & the surrounding neighborhood was so charming. No complaints! I'd definitely go back if I were in the area again.

We arrived late at night but were warmly welcomed to this lovely cottage by our charming hosts. Gary and Cara are very helpful and hospitable, and Haskell's House is cozy and comfy. So many amenities to please a vegan, and good shopping nearby. Great situation too, close to the water, but in a quiet, pretty street, and the garden is a delight. We were so happy to find this place...a welcome alternative to the chain motels. I would recommend it to anyone, as long as you live compassionately, of course.

Quiet Oasis in a Great LocationThe Haskell House has everything you need and is in walking distance to the heart of Fort Lauderdale. You can relax inside the well decorated antique interior, sit outside in the lush gardens or go for a long walk in the friendly residential neighborhood. A little stroll and you can be walking along the Riverfront Promenade watching the yachts, attending an art event or even enjoying some downtown night life. The serenity of the Haskell House will leave you feeling refreshed.

I have stayed at Haskell's House for three months and could not be more satisfied with my stay. The house is clean, quiet and provides all of the comforts needed for a great stay. The owners, Cara and Gary are delightful and quite accomodating. In addition to being friendly, they provide a wonderful green environment. I highly recommend staying when the Lychee fruit are ripe in the back yard!

The Haskells House was recommended to me by the owners of Yoga Warehouse, and I was so grateful! I stayed almost two weeks in January, and it was convenient, comfortable, clean, and in a quiet neighborhood. Cara and Gary were so helpful with everything and especially directions and recommendations. I enjoyed being close to the downtown riverfront and performing arts center area, which are walking or biking distance. I look forward to going back soon!

My husband and I came to stay at Haskell's House for a week this summer and it was absolutely perfect. The house was so welcoming and comfortable, not to mention beautiful! The location was close to the beaches and walking distance to many great places. During our stay we enjoyed being able to easily find everything we needed that was vegan and eco friendly without having to do much research or driving. Having the bicycles available to use were a great addition to our fun! I recommend this to anyone looking for a safe and cozy, private place to temporarily call home.

It is in a quiet neighborhood and has all the comforts of home. Owners Cara and Gary live next door and are very accommodating and helpful, trying to make your stay more pleasant. It is a "veggie" house in every sense !! A great place to stay !!

I've stayed at a lot of places in South Florida and Cara and Gary's place is the best. So many places are "investment" properties which means get away with a little service and care as possible while still making a quick buck off your property. You wouldn't think you'd need to find an oasis in paradise but after some time at other places in South Florida, that's the way you feel here. Beautifully furnished and very welcoming, helpful hosts. It's also great to find like-minded people. I recently sent an email to Cara showing all the "eco" rental listings in Massachusetts on the web, but unfortunately it's more rare to find in Florida. It was great to discover hosts that are devoted to offering a truly healthy place to stay while you enjoy the sun and fun in Florida.

When you're visiting Fort Lauderdale, whether on business or for pleasure, for a week or a month, Haskell's House is the place to stay! Located near downtown, in a quiet and safe neighborhood, it's surrounded by beautiful vegatation and has all the amenities you'll need; plus the owners, Cara and Gary, who live right next door, are great! It's the 4th time I'm staying here; I think that says it all!

It was a pleasure staying at Haskell's House. Owners Cara and Gary made me feel so welcome, and it felt like a home away from home. The house is clean and fresh, and beautifully decorated with antique furniture. Recycling and conservation is a key component of staying here. I wish more hotels and B&B's would follow Cara and Gary's example. I highly recommend Haskell's House to anyone visiting Fort Lauderdale who want to get away from the tourist mill, and enjoy the peace and tranquility offered in this vintage home.

Haskell House is a very charming and enjoyable experience. I felt like I had stepped back into the 1950's; a simpler time when you could have your windows open and enjoy the fresh air and rain. The gardens around the house are filled with exotic blooming plants, some yielding fruit for the table such as mangoes and lychee. The Haskells are delightful and generous hosts with a strong and admirable passion for the environment. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and highly recommend it.

Haskell's House was just what I was looking for...a cozy, peaceful, off the beaten track but close to everything, green, hide away for my stay in Lauderdale. A great place to unplug and explore an old Florida neighborhood. The hosts were terrific and I really appreciated their restaurant/cafe suggestions and the bikes they provided to get there! I'll definitely return.

Very enjoyable location; a "garden oasis" in an urban setting. Please note: the DSL is not wireless.

We had a fantastic time at Haskell's house. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, and the home is just what we needed -- a quiet, beautiful home with meditative front and back gardens, and even free bicycles for us to ride to the beach! Should we visit Lauderdale again, we will definitely stay at Haskell's house.
