COMMENT from gina jones on May 1, 2007 I would love to see your facility sometime I live in Kasilof. I had hoped to oneday have a Northern breed rescue center, that takes on Huskies and retired race dogs clall me or e/ mail sometime 260 5646. i would like to know how you did thid ? thru fund raisers> grants? Any ideas I would love to know and share. In my defense I did just find it! You are more then welcome to come visit anytime. Call and let us know when your coming so we don't miss ya! As for a sled dog rescue - BE CAREFUL! There are very few people interested in retired sled dogs. I have a lead dog here now thats been here for over 3 years. People are looking for well trained adult dogs, or puppies. Old sled dogs are low on most lists and not even on most! I have had as many as 120+ sled dogs here at one time - I rescued 3 differant teams. It took 3 people 8-10 hours per DAY to care for them all. Never again! Wanting to start a rescue, or help operate one?
