Yanapuma Foundation is a cooperatively run NGO whose aims are to facilitate
sustainable practices in poor urban and rural communities throughout Ecuador,
and to encourage intercultural exchange that fosters mutual benefit and learning
in a globalizing world.
Yanapuma offers volunteers the opportunity to
contribute to the development of these communities in several ways; through
long-term volunteering opportunities, shorter group projects, and cultural
exchange programs.
We also run a Spanish school that caters to the more
socially and ecologically aware, responsible traveler.
Our Cultural Exchange
program offers the possibility to visit a small community in the Amazon
rainforest, sierra, or coast region of Ecuador that is in the process of
developing tourism. Visitors learn about the culture and its relation to the
environment while offering the community a chance to get accustomed to dealing
with tourists.
