The Devon Meat Company sources whole carcasses only from members’ Devon farms, thus
ensuring top quality meat with ultimate traceability: pure bred Aberdeen Angus & Devon
Ruby Red beef, Manx Laoghtan & Hebridean rare breed sheep, Wessex Saddleback & Gloucester
Old Spot pigs, wild game and venison. Carcasses are hung in our own cold rooms under the
experienced eye of butcher Wayne Grice who decides when the meat is ready to cut, normally
19-25 days for beef, 5-7 days for pork and 4-10 days for lamb or hogget. Our butcher works
closely with the farmers to ensure that the care and attention they give to proper welfare
is reflected in the quality of the end product. To this end we have been awarded gold in
2004, 2005 & 2006 in the prestigious UK "Taste of the West Food & Drink Awards" designed
to show West Country food at its very best. We make a range of delicatessen, oven ready
and pastry products as well as gammons, sausages bacon & burgers exclusively from our own
meat. We deliver throughout mainland UK.
