Taro’s Friends came into existence when the volcano erupted violently in 1991. People were evacuated from their homes by the government but not permitted to take their loving animal companions and the animals were left behind; among these was “Taro,” a dog, was one of those left behind. Nearly dead when he was found, Taro’s friends nursed him back to health and cared for him for the next eight years. Today, we are caring for 160 dogs and 40 cats, all of which were neglected, abandoned or abused by their owners and others. We protect these animals from being captured and killed by the government animal control authorities, provide them with adequate shelter, reduce their suffering, and create comfortable lives for them. Taro’s Friends is supported solely by people like you, who love and care about animals. Our sanctuary of 15 acres is managed by only 4 staff due to lack of finances and our ability to properly care for our animals were severely strained. We need your help to accomplish our mission.
Focus:

1) Animal welfare

2) Animal Sanctuary

3) Organization
