Neighborhood Co-op Grocery is owned by over 2300 friends and neighbors in the
region. Their store, like other cooperative grocery stores, observe the seven
internationally recognized cooperative principles: Open, Voluntary
Ownership/Membership; Democratic Owner Control; Owner Economic Participation;
Autonomy and Independence; Education, Training and Information; Cooperation
Among Cooperatives; and Concern for the Community. Along with 150 other
cooperative grocery stores in the United States, Neighborhood Co-op Grocery is a
member of the National Cooperative Grocers Association. The members of this
association have combined sales of over $1.2 billion dollars annually. In 2010
Neighborhood Co-op Grocery had annual sales of $3.7 million dollars.
