Meeting with your care provider, if desired
Encouraging the partner to
participate and offer advice on how to help
Phone consultation as necessary
Support and assistance throughout labor at home and at the hospital or birthing
center
Help to ease discomfort through encouragement, pressure, hot or cold
packs, birth ball, explanations of what is happening, and encouragement of
movement or change of position
Stay with the mother for about 2 hours after
birth
Help with initial breastfeeding
