I offer birth doula services and independent childbirth education classes both
in a group or private setting. In 2007 I began doula work, having attended
Seattle Midwifery School's labor support course, and have been DONA certified
since February 2008. As a childbirth educator, I have been trained through
Birthing From Within and Lamaze and am working toward my advanced Birthing From
Within mentor status. Now as an experienced birth professional, my experience
runs the gamut: single, partnered and married moms; births with a father present
and without; teen and young single mother pregnancies; over-35-year-old mothers;
economically disadvantaged families and others more fortunate; high-risk
high-intervention hospital births; low-risk low-intervention hospital births;
homebirths with a midwife present; planned and unplanned induction; and planned
and unplanned cesarean birth. I believe every birth is a rite of passage - a
spiritual event - that prepares a mother uniquely for her journey to motherhood.
