Established in 1985, we are a non-profit, no-kill shelter set up to care for
homeless dogs and cats. It is the policy of our shelter to provide humane care
and treatment for animals needing protection in the area served by the shelter;
to seek to return lost animals to their owners; to seek suitable homes for
animals without owners; and to alleviate animal suffering.
The James River
Humane Society offers the "ResQ pet tracking" Micro-chip service. The cost is a
$35 donation for this service. Each additional pet is $30.
Do you have an
animal at home you would like to have spayed or neutered? The shelter has a
limited supply of coupons for families needing some help with altering their
animals. The coupons are $15 off of a spay and $10 off of a neuter. For more
information call the shelter or stop out and fill out a "Spay and Neuter
application".
