Mercury-Free Dental Restorations
Natural tooth-colored materials are less
visible to others and have the added benefit of being less toxic.
Both for
cosmetic and health safety reasons we at Health Centered Dentistry use only
tooth-colored (composite) filling materials. Sometimes due to esthetic
concerns, health concerns, or both, patients wish to have their old silver /
amalgam (mercury containing) fillings replaced. At other times, due to new
decay developing around the edges of previously placed silver / amalgam
fillings, we must restore teeth that contain mercury. Dr. Laughlin strongly
believes in the safe handling of these toxic materials and has been trained in
the protocols for safe removal of silver / amalgam / mercury fillings.
