The GRASP site is a home office for people interested in the legal innovation of
personhood for non-human apes. The site will explore and develop effective
models for the legal defence of non-human apes and other conscious animals, in
order to act as a catalyst for legal progress in our relationship with them and
ultimately respect their interest in living on their own terms according to
their own traditions. One founding goal of GRASP is to enable a non-human
plaintiff to personally sue in a court of law with the assistance of a human
guardian. GRASP supports animal rights principles and is now officially part of
Friends of Animals. GRASP does not currently have internships or paid positions.
