The annual seal massacre in Canada is the largest marine mammal slaughter in the
entire world, with over 350,00 killed each year.
99% of these killings are
performed by off-season fisherman. This is not a real industry. It is subsidized
by the taxpayer. The EU has banned all seal products, yet the slaughter
continues.
95% of the seals killed are between 12 days and 90 days old, thus
dispelling the myth that it is due to overpopulation of seals. If this were the
case, seals at sexual maturity (beginning at age 5) would be killed.
Another
myth is that native peoples are the ones doing the killing. The Inuit only are
accountable for 1% of those killed.
Help us to put this centuries old barbaric
practice to an end.
