The mission of the Ecological Food Manufacturers Association is two fold: To
help members produce foods which are healthy for the planet and the consumer, as
well as for the company's profitability, and to help promote the category of
ecological foods.
One of the major objectives of EFMA will be to develop SENE
(TM) certification (EFMA Standards of Ecological and Nutritional Excellence)
which will inform the consumer about the true nutritional value and the
environmental footprint which is made by the production of the product. A high
SENE score will be the best guide to assessing the environmental and health
benefits associated with the processed food.
