Carolina Heritage Vineyard & Winery is the first organic vineyard and
winery in North Carolina and is located in the heart of the Yadkin Valley AVA on
Highway 268 3 miles east of Elkin, NC. The vineyard is planted in native
winegrapes (Carlos, Noble, Doreen and Cynthiana/Norton) and French/American
hybrids (Traminette, Chambourcin and Rubiana), blueberries, apple and pear trees
and honey bees. Wines are available in the winegrape varieties with fruit wines
and meads coming in 2010. All fruits on the estate are organically grown and all
wines made in the estate winery are done following organic practices. Plan is to
bottle future estate wines as "Made from Organic Grapes."
