We call our method of farming "Nature Sensitive". We try to go several steps
beyond conventional organic farming methods (especially the big organic farms
that can't do what we do at a smaller level). We severely limit our use of
fossil fuels and tractors and use little or no new purchased plastics. We try to
use recycled materials as much as we can, including the few plastics that we
use. We also practice extremely careful soil management (I have a degree in Soil
Science and Human Nutrition from the UW Madison) and use growing beds for almost
all our crops, and lots of mulch. "Nature Sensitive" is not just a concept,
marketing method, or a catchphrase for us (like "organic" can be for some)- it
is a way of living.
