I work with a group of doulas called Renaissance Childbirth and Postpartum
Professionals. We are independent doulas but we advertise as a group and back
each other up. We offer what we call double doula services. What that means is
that you will interview two doulas and hire us as a team. We do all the
prenatals with you as a team. Then when you go into labor you call one of us and
we get ahold of the other doula. Then whoever is the most available will be the
one to attend your birth.
It is a great benefit for you. Most doulas have a
back up just in case they are sick or something happens. However, this is
probably someone you only met one time or maybe not at all. Well, there is never
an unknown backup with us. You will know both of us equally well. Also, if you
happen to have a long labor, the doulas will switch out. This way you always
have a fresh doula and never an overtired one for the times that you may need
her the most.
