When Green People travel, we like to stay in lodgings that are
eco-friendly. How do you know that your hotel or bed and breakfast is
green? Green hotels and green bed and breakfasts insure that guests stay in safe, non-toxic and energy efficient lodgings. They minimize their impact on the environment through practices such as: Using non-toxic cleaners and laundry detergent; supplying only organic sheets, towels, and mattresses; using renewable energy sources and energy efficient lighting; providing recycling facilities for guests; serving organic food and locally grown foods on non-disposable dishes. As well as following these sustainable practices, an eco hotel may also be sited with sensitivity to the natural environment, contribute to local conservation efforts, incorporate local cultural considerations, and return a portion of its profits to the local community. To make choosing your eco-friendly lodgings easier, Green People has compiled the following list of eco hotels and eco-friendly bed and breakfasts that meet some or all of the above criteria. |
